adj. en -Y > -iest : funny : the funniest

adj se terminant par consonne/voyelle/consonne > on double la consonne : Big : the biggest/ slim : the slimmest

Exceptions

good > the best

bad > the worst

far > the farthest

* Certains adjectifs peuvent être traités comme adjectif long et court >

Adjectif se terminant par -le / -er/ - ow)

Lovely ,= the most lovely mais la plupart du temps, the loveliest est employé

Idem pour clever > the most clever ou the cleverest

Idem pour simple > the simplest ou the most simple

Idem pour narrow > the narrowest ou the most narrow.
